Iran wins three more golds in Asian Games

Guangzhou, November 19 -- Iranian athletes claimed three more gold medals in the 2010 Asian Games where they have won eight golds so far.

Mohsen Shadi Naghadeh seized the gold medal in Lightweight Men's Single Sculls in Rowing at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou on Friday.

Shadi claimed the gold with a time of 6:55.62 minutes. Daisaku Takeda from Japan won the silver, clocking 7:00.43 and Artyom Kudryashov from Uzbekistan won the bronze with 7:06.17.
 
Shadi had claimed the gold medals of the World Rowing Under-23 Championship in Racice, Czech Republic and Brest, Belarus in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
 

 
“I won my first medal in the Asian Games but that’s not enough. I will focus on winning the gold medal of the London Olympic Games in 2012,” Shadi said.
 
Mohammad Bagheri Motamed won the gold medal of the -68kg Taekwondo at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou on Friday. Bagheri Motamed defeated Jang Se Wook of Korea 6-4 to take the gold medal in the event.  Jiannan Huang from China and Tsung Jui Lo of China Taipei claimed the bronze medal jointly.
 
And Behdad Salimi claimed Iran’s third gold in Men's +105kg Weightlifting at the Guangzhou Asian Games. He lifted 205kg in snatch and 235kg in clean and jerk and 440kg in total.

Sangguen Jeon from South Korea won the silver medal in the event. He lifted 190kg in snatch, 238kg in clean and jerk and 428kg in total. Iranian Sajjad Anoushiravani snatched the bronze lifting 195kg in snatch, 232kg in clean and jerk and 427kg in total.
 

 
“I am so happy to win the gold. I will present my medal to all Iranians around the world,” Salimi said.
 
Iranian athletes had already won five gold medals. Khadijeh Azadpour claimed the gold medal of the women's Sanshou 60kg Wushu. Mohsen Mohammad Seifi had gained gold medal of the men's Sanshou - 60kg Wushu competition and Hamidrez Gholipour won the gold in the men's 75kg Sanshou Wushu.
 
Also, Iranian taekwondo players Yousef Karami and Alireza Nasr Azadani seized two gold medals.
